چکیده
ABSTRACT Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) is a powerful gene-silencing tool that has been intensively applied in plants. To data, the application of VIGS rubber tree not yet reported. In this study, we described efficient by VIGS. The encoding Hevea brasiliensis phytoene desaturase (HbPDS) was identified genome. Small interfering RNAs from HbPDS and fragment were predicted length 399 bp selected to be tested. We showed tobacco rattle virus (TRV)-VIGS could induce effective tree. Tomato and Tobacco Phytoene Desaturase Gene Silencing by Virus-Induced Gene Silencing (VIGS) Technique
Background and Aims: Virus-Induced Gene Silencing (VIGS) is a virus vector technology that exploits antiviral defense mechanism. By infecting plants with recombinant viruses containing host genes inserted in the viral genome, VIGS achieves the RNA silencing process. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) and tobacco (Nicotiana be...
متن کاملEfficient virus-induced gene silencing in roots using a modified tobacco rattle virus vector.
Due to their capability of eliciting a form of posttranscriptional gene silencing (termed virus-induced gene silencing or VIGS), plant viruses are increasingly used as reverse-genetics tools for functional characterization of plant genes. RNA viruses have been shown to trigger silencing in a variety of host plants, including members of Solanacae and Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). Several f...
متن کاملEfficient Gene Silencing Mediated by Tobacco Rattle Virus in an Emerging Model Plant Physalis
The fruit of Physalis has a berry and a novelty called inflated calyx syndrome (ICS, also named the 'Chinese lantern'). Elucidation of the underlying developmental mechanisms of fruit diversity demands an efficient gene functional inference platform. Here, we tested the application of the tobacco rattle virus (TRV)-mediated gene-silencing system in Physalis floridana. First, we characterized th...
متن کاملTobacco rattle virus mediates gene silencing in a plant parasitic root-knot nematode.
Root-knot nematodes (RKNs) are sedentary biotrophic parasites that induce the differentiation of root cells into feeding cells that provide the nematodes with the nutrients necessary for their development. The development of new control methods against RKNs relies greatly on the functional analysis of genes that are crucial for the development of the pathogen or the success of parasitism. In th...
